7. Laugh all you want, but this girl's got it going.

I am proud to say that she is in my Council, and I spent one morning last week with her while she sold. She is amazing. She's never over the top, but she is dedicated and loves the cookie sale.

She has been the top seller in the Council for the last two years, obviously will be again this year, and is still selling until the sale ends this weekend. She's revised her goal twice since hitting 18,000--it's now 21,914. I would totally not be surprised if she makes it. Her "lifetime" Girl Scout goal (until she graduates high school) is to sell 100,000 boxes. She's probably almost to 50,000 right now.

She has dozens of business cards from people who have told her to call them when she graduates college and they'll have a job waiting for her. She just turned 12 a couple of weeks ago.

We have spent the last two days at work fielding phone calls from all over the country. Her photo and story has been on Reuters and the BBC News website. We now have a media consultant to help us handle the press. And through it all, she is calm, collected, bright, sweet, and totally unfazed by all of it.

Yes, I'm an extremely proud Girl Scout employee....

8. That is pretty amazing -

in our suburban area our neighborhoods are so saturated with scouts that the girls are lucky if they can sell a few hundred boxes each (and that's with some effort). I think it's absolutely amazing that she's sold that many boxes.
