Congratulate ME

I have lost ten pounds since December. Sorry to toot my own horn but losing weight has always been something I considered a pipe dream. I could just never keep motivated even with the doctors dire warnings. I would just get more and more depressed as I watched the number on the scales climb.

Then in December I got sick, my 12 1/2 year old dog Maxie got sick and food didn't interest me that much. I started to cut way down on portions and found at least my stomach felt better.

Having to say the last good bye to Maxie was hard. Then energetic Marnie puppy burst on the scene. At first I didn't think we were going to work together but now I think she maybe the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. She is forcing me to become more active again because before as Maxie aged and slowed down so did I. Now I'm taking long walks again with Marnie, I'm playing with her, and she keeps me too busy to snack.

The pounds have slowly started to just disappear, and my stomach hurts less, and I can breathe a lot easier. I am starting to feel a little brighter as well as lighter. Thanks Marnie!

One thing that has helped me is a mindset of "exercise is the norm." We humans evolved to be in motion. That is our normal state as a species. The sedentary stuff is quite recent and previously unknown to us, and it is taking a huge toll on our health. So, if I think about being sedentary as the exception and exercise as the norm, it somehow helps reset my brain to the exercise default. I look forward to it every day. Good luck in your journey!

I kind of thought of exercise as calisthenics or sports, the stuff we did in gym class. Didn't realize that something fun like walking with and playing with a puppy cannot count too.

Although at first, I thought this was a thread about Maine recalling their POS Governor. Dream on!

That couldn't have been easy. I still have a lot of pounds left to come off but I am trying not to get discouraged about that and just keep walking Marnie and eating less. Then hopefully the number on the scale will keep decreasing bit by bit.

The bad thing now is all my pants are falling of and I am having trouble finding new ones.
My current size seems way too big and the next size down too tight. My sister says it's because I have very skinny legs but too big a tummy. They just don't make pants for people with my shape.
