Any Charlie Chaplin fans?

I'm just curious and want to know if there are any Chaplin fans on DU. I myself happen to be a HUGE fan of Charlie Chaplin. How about you?

3. I love Chaplin.

As you probably know, this year is the 100th anniversary of his first film.

4. More of his features than his shorts but yes, a fan

The Kid, City Lights, Modern Times, and The Great Dictator are all classics that still stand up with Modern Times being one of the truly greatest films ever.

Like both versions of The Gold Rush too.

And that one about the taxi? Great stuff!

6. The boxing scene from "City Lights" is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I just about busted a gut laughing. The kind of thing where you are gasping for breath after a while.

And "The Great Dictator" is just astoundingly good.

It should warm the heart of every liberal...

8. I love Charlie Chaplin - "Gold Rush" is one of my all-time favorite movies...

but it has to be the 1920's and if you can find a version where the music used is the Bach Fugues.

Yummy!

10. Have you seen the three-part series "Unknown Chaplin"??? Do yourself a favor and watch it!

Seriously, watch it!

It's a 3-part documentary that I remember being part of the American Masters series on PBS a hundred years ago (or in the early eighties) although it's originally from Thames TV. A good portion of the documentary consists of clips of unused movie scenes, Chaplin directing, etc. I was always a film buff but after watching this I became a huge Chaplin fan.

Yea! Found it on YouTube, OK in 15 min chunks, but still!:

And it's narrated by James Mason.
