Update: Tucker's surgery went beautifully!

They were able to remove his spleen with no complications, nothing spread and he'll be home tomorrow. We have other health issues to address but he's got a good chance at more time and little pain.

I knew those Lounge vibes would do the trick.

And even more, I truly appreciate having a bunch of people that care. Y'all rock.

I'm so glad Tucker did well.

These are scary times, and this is just one less thing for you to carry around and worry about.

He'll come home and act like nothing happened.

After my parents' standard poodle was spayed we brought her home, and she was thirsty and drank water too fast. In an hour we noticed that her abdomen was swelling and we rushed her back to the vet where they did surgery right away. Her stomach had "flipped", twisting at the esophagus and duodenum and causing trapped gases to build up. The vet told us he moved her stomach back into the right position and removed her spleen because it's like a weight that can cause the stomach to flip again once it has happened. Others since then told me the doc may have nicked it with the scalpel, and removed it because it was bleeding. But she recovered quickly and seemed almost normal when we picked her up the second time! "Sips" are better after surgery for dogs & humans!
