My wife got me the original Cosmos series on DVD.

I told her to remember that the special effects were cutting edge for 1979 and not to make fun, but they are even better than I had thought. The same kind of things that are pissing off fundies about the new show were also prevalent in the original. There Sagan is in the first episode taking a shot at creationists, not unlike Tyson does in the remake. It may be more subtle, but there it is just the same.

I am a business major and I have three main areas of interest. I'd like to be involved on the business side of any operations having to do with real estate, coin collecting, or science. In a more accommodating life I would have been a scientist first. That's what I was studying back when I was in college as a young adult. That didn't work out due to circumstances beyond my control, but it would be cool to be involved even in an indirect way.

From what I can gather, the original is still valid for the most part. Tobin S. May 2014 #2

I don't think I did.

But me and my husband are watching the new one, and wow, we love it!

Tyson is amazing, and a true descendent of Sagan.

It's a visionary work that still holds true. I'm with you on Neil deGrasse Tyson. He's got the knowledge of a seasoned scientist and the charisma of an actor. He is well suited for the role in the new Cosmos.
