They're a citrus fruit, related to mandarins and grapefruit. They're often added to baths in winter because the citrus oils they release are supposed to help prevent colds and heal chapped skin. (Also, they smell wonderful.)

They look like large white carrots. Looks like she's got a great bumper crop!

Diakon are great for salads, pickling, or cooked and used like a potato for people on low carb diets, like me! They have the basic radish taste, but no radish bite.

You can find good fresh ones in asian markets.
