I've never seen dogs holding their front legs down at their sides when they're on their hind legs.

(2,805 posts)It looks these are individual photos. The expression and focus is different in each one. I'm not saying it isn't set up but I think it is a real dog.
I only posted because I used to have a small long haired dog that we would get groomed for summer. Each time he would look so shockingly different it would take a few days for us to adjust to his new look. I thought it was a funny twist that the dog might not approve of his new look.

(44,576 posts)and I've had too many of my own bad-haircut-induced crises to deny them to other species. But the position of the dog's front legs looks suspiciously -- well, human. On these other dogs, the front legs are orientated toward the front, rather than the sides, of the body:

(8,361 posts)quite frequently. He'll stand to sniff something or see what's on a table and even take a few steps forward or even backward and his front legs are always hanging at his sides. My pup is a Nordic breed too. I was taking him for a walk once and the leash felt strange so I turned around to look at him and he was on his hind legs,, walking backward, with his "arms" hanging down, watching something behind us. These kinds of dogs are often used in circuses - now I know why.

(6,011 posts)I think he might be showing his person that the groomer made him stand up like that, using the little leash on a vertical rod on the grooming table while (s)he trimmed his underside and he growled. He was royally p.o.'d, and when he got home he play-acted the trauma. "This? This is what you humans want me to do?! I hate getting haircuts!"

(20,219 posts)I've got my Shrimpy in my arms here, and she's being subjected to a kissing blizzard. I'm just going totally mental with the cuteness!

(2,529 posts)We kept my step-daughter's teddy bear Pomeranian once for a year while she was working overseas. That dog hated being groomed and having his coat sheared. He'd slink away in humiliation anytime someone came to the door and would hide under the bed. If they laughed at him, he'd snarl and growl at them from under his hiding place. It would take him a week or so before he'd get used to his new look.
