various sausages and some other stuff. Venison stew its the spot on a cold winter's night.

And Westphalian ham.

The problem I noticed living in Germany was that the cuisine was excellently done, but of limited variety compared to others.

meh to the other stuff.

The best food to get in Germany is doner kebab, which is Turkish.

Niederegger marzipan is worth the significant markup. Also some German dark chocolate is delicious too. And I've been told German women are also yummy.

My girlfriends mom make this for me about once a week and I just cannot get enough of it. I know it's not traditional German food, but man is it good.

A traditional German cookie with roots dating back to ancient Egypt and Rome

Also German round bread baked fresh from a village bakery. Speaking of bakeries, there is no greater agenda changer than walking past a German bakery with it's door open.

well, not by me and my daughter. My wife can take it or leave it but me and the kid love it.

Weinerschnitzel and sauerkraut and just about anything they do with a potato (but potato pancakes are my favorite). All the sausages and stuff and Schwarzbier! I love it. Saurbraten, rouladen, and a pinch on the cheek from the sweet and sassy old lady that runs the German place near my house are just a few of the German foods I love.

especially jägerschnitzel when it's done right, like what you expect to find in a rural guesthouse.

...love it all but rarely get it. Rarely! Time to get out my vintage Luchow's cookbook and make some.
