First thanks to Ptah for checking up on me and also an apology for not following up right away.
OK here in brief: thought I had the flu, a couple days later I got cellulitis in my leg. same place as last fall. very weird, but ok whatever, give me some antibiotics and lets get this healed up.
short version, no fast healing. went to Benson Hospital on Monday and it is cellulitis PLUS some kind of abscess that they couldn't handle (the word is aspirate ) so they sent me to Tucson. I am at TMC and going to have surgery this afternoon to get the thing cleaned out. No bone or even muscle involvement from what the MRI showed, so I SHOULD be good to go pretty fast. Not going to predict for real as this has been a strange 10 days or so already LOL.
anyway, just got my laptop today so I will definitely be on line tomorrow to give you the gory details.
thanks for the good wishes and the PMs I haven't answered yet, I will try to do more either after my nap or tomorrow when I am awake. Or maybe tonight if I feel OK, who knows?

(26,325 posts)My brother and his daughter (my niece) have had cellulitis. The daughter on more than one occasion.
Scary stuff - if you don't get it treated. Sounds like you were on top of it.
Last time the niece had it she called her Doc and he sent her right to the ER - do not pass go do not collect $200 - and they had an IV waiting for her. It was near her eye.

(32,080 posts)It sounds like whatever it is, you got it in time before it could do any major damage. Here's hoping it all gets cleared up so that there's no repeat. Feel better, Kali.

I look forward to the gory details...you know, once a nurse, always a nurse!
Take care, and get well, OK?

I'm beginning to worry, Kali.
everytime I had a chance to try and get on line today the hospital's wifi seemed to be whacked out. Now there is a storm going on *OH YEAH!!!* it seems to be working.
waiting for a tech so I can...uh...you know...rid myself of some of this excess saline eep.
bacl in a bit if the signal holds, but I am mostly ok (a few technical dificulties with me too, of course) and enjoying the drugs for now.
oh an meanwhile back at the ranch? mountain behind the house is on fire. sheesh

This was on NPR recently.
The first lookout on Lemmon Rock was built in 1902. Since then, the site has been
used to watch for wildfires in the valleys surrounding Tucson and other lands as far away
as the Little Dragoon Mountains near Willcox.
The current building on Lemmon Rock dates to 1936.
