*&^#$@. I'm committed. I *need* to be committed. I'm going to Phoenix. In August.

It's family stuff, and I'll have to be there a week. In August. In Arpaio-hell.

I swore once I left, I would never go back, and in seventeen years, I've broken that 3 times (a death, a funeral and a medical emergency.) I also swore I'd never spend another cent there (because it's not like the whole state doesn't give me a gazillion reasons to boycott it).

My mother better know that she's loved, because nothing proves it like enduring 122 and hot monsoon rain.

Soulless right wingers have trapped Arizona in an endless cycle of poverty and despair that pretty much sucks the hope out of the whole place. We have to hibernate, every year, from St. Patrick's Day all the way through Veterans' Day, just to survive--particularly in the lowlands.

But, on the bright side, I'm here and I'm okay, I guess.

Anyway, hold a good thought for us.

But yes, it will be nasty, no getting around that.

Just remember that some of us DUers are here, for various reasons.
After several unsuccessful attempts to leave, I've had to accept that the universe wants me to be here.

There are good people here, working for change.
It is coming....slowly.....
