the fellowship of the ring was pretty good, two towers was not and i almost walked out of the return of the king. i also almost walked out of the desolation of smaug.
breaks my heart that they destroyed some of my favorite books.

(39,343 posts)I found Mike Myers' portrayal somewhat over the top when the book attributed the cat to have many levels of feelings.

(32,074 posts)The novel was much better. It wasn't sanitized like the movie was, and Jenny and Mrs. Gump didn't die, like they did in the film. (I guess they died in the novel's sequel, however.)

(204,753 posts)The movie changed the characters so it made no sense. The friend I went with, who also read the book first, was ready to walk out. And I loved the book...
