Before integrated circuits, this was about as small as a transistor radio (with speaker!) could get.
It used one AA battery that fit into the radio under that bottom knob.
My Dad had one of these.

(3,655 posts)It had good sound. I also had a "micro" cassette player/recorder that was the size of a stack of 20 cds in their cases. Also had a bone fone which was a radio that you draped over your neck. The sound traveled through your collar bone to your ears.
