The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsKali appreciation thread. She's my favorite DU country battleax.
She brought us MFM.
She'll tangle with you if you dare.
Don't ask for her #10.
i hope she continues to recover.

(8,492 posts)...I could have met her under better circumstances. But, MFM would've loved the attention.
The freakin' energy that woman exudes is amazing. Her aura could power Chicago.
You, on the other hand...

(102,225 posts)Kali is one of a kind.... (whether beheading rattlesnakes under her desk--tough as nails, or doing the kindest gestures in helping all of us memorialize MFM)
To your recovery, Kali!

(149,588 posts)She has a kind heart, a quick mind and yes, she can be tough!
I treasure her.
She will recover, there is no doubt of that, none at all.

(149,588 posts)She had an infection in her leg which led to being hospitalized till it was better. Then she was transferred to a nursing home or something to complete the IV antibiotics. I think she's done with that now; hence her saying she "escaped."
Hope that helps! I think I'm remembering it correctly!

(63,903 posts)so glad she's better now...

(149,588 posts)MiddleFingerMom (who died in January) was a good, close friend of Kali's.
They'd been close friends for years, and she finally persuaded him to join DU. He rapidly became a favorite in the Lounge, due to his wacky sense of humor and vast collection of crazy cartoons.
He'd had medical problems (mainly heart valve) and in the end, he died from an infection in his heart. There was a lot of grieving here...Some of it still is going on.
That's it in a nutshell.

(63,903 posts)it was just the initials that didn't bring him to my mind...
thanks for being patient with me.

Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)Get better soon, Kali.
I just came to the Lounge to make a post about my FREEDOM! Got out of the nursing home yesterday afternoon and I am ensconced in a pretty decent room at the Days Inn (they upgraded me for free - I have TWO tee vees! )
and in a few minutes I am going up to the house to see my very much missed dogs and Watson, and to eat a big ol' ribeye steak grilled over mesquite. Might even have beer.
this was very sweet of you, don't think I have ever had one of these threads.

Congratulations!

(8,492 posts)Now I really want this to happen. And someone needs to take video. Somehow, the visual of the Lounge Lizards trying to perform any type of covert operation is hilarious. I hear Keystone Cops music.

(20,043 posts)along with Peggy were the three people that made me feel welcomed when I first joined DU. I've never forgotten how nice they were to me. I'll never forget the picture she posted of the snake she killed (under her desk), I thought now there's someone I could hang with.
I hope you feel better soon Kali.

(20,546 posts)But I will chime in to appreciate Kali. She has always been a fave of mine. Here's something nice to look at while you recuperate from whatever you're recuperating from (which I hope you recuperate from post-haste) - my mare's butt which you've always appreciated. As well as her pretty face.
