Last year I posted this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023478910 I'd just run my first 5k. I have some medical issues (explained at the link) so it was a big deal for me.
Today I was out for a run, I usually do 3 miles. I was running through the neighborhood park and a guy was sitting in his wheel chair with his dog. He said to me 'I wish I could do that', we chatted for a minute and I continued on. As I came back around he asked how far I'd run and how much more I had to go. I told him and he he said 'don't give up you can do it'.
As I said, I've had my share of medical problems, still do, and as hard as it is some days to do it at least I can do it. I definitely have a new perspective on things.
I ran that same 5k on Saturday. Here's picture post run this year:
from left to right, my brother Mike, me, my husband behind me, my daughter, my brother Ryan, my son, my son's sweetie. I have 2 more brothers and a sister that didn't run.
We had a great time!

(20,043 posts)I had to give up a lot of working out over the winter because I had a couple surgeries. But I'm back at it now....working hard to get the rest of the weight off, but mostly just being healthy.

My hair, lol...the girl that does it couldn't believe how light it gets in the summer. She put darker lo-lights in but it's already lightened up. Nothing I can do about it, I'm outside so much. It would cost a fortune if I tried to keep it dark for the summer.
This is what I'm thinking for the winter....the color anyway...haven't decided about the cut.

(5,909 posts)I think you should go for it (the cut...color is awesome) but I was always pretty daring with my hair...among other things, so I would hate to be a bad influence and have you regret it...I mean the cut.
I loved experimenting, and my attitude was like, it's just hair; it will grow back; though I will admit cried/got super pissed at some bad cuts and/or dye jobs.
Now it's just really long, blonde and has a chocolate brown color underneath, but I like it and finally found a hairdresser that does a wonderful job and I absolutely adore.
