(149,580 posts)I was wondering why I didn't see those. I mean, we get the LA Times.
And then I remembered.
I was in Cleveland that week, visiting my very sick friend, WCGreen.
I am indebted to you.

(17,184 posts)I'd thought there was a previous post in the Lounge about Mr Watterson's collaboration on Pearls, but it must've been a different venue.

(8,492 posts)I didn't know how to react. So, I recced it. It's actually pretty damned good.
I'll be expecting something frivolous and borderline offensive before I leave work.

(29,414 posts)because the pessimists will get hold of it, to remind you that the American dream is not only a childish fantasy but impossible, so why bother trying?
I'm still trying, anyway

(29,414 posts)But there's also:
"The American Dream is a myth perpetuated by the right, and if you support it, then you're just spouting RW talking points. How can you call yourself a Liberal? There are no bootstraps to pull up!!!1!"
And so on...

(2,488 posts)This guy, however, has no clue. Luddites like him have been predicting the end of the world since the wheel was invented.
Entertaining video though. I got several good laughs.

(39,343 posts)I just got in from teaching my 3 year old how to fly through the neighborhood on her tricycle.
I miss work, but it's worth it. Maybe I'll get back out there when she doesn't need me as much.

(39,343 posts)I've a couple of disabling diseases (I'm coping right now, thanks) and I cannot work, but I can stay home with my girl. Mom also gets to work from her home office in the former guest room.
Life never happens the way you plan, sometimes it hands you a disaster and works out for the best.

(39,215 posts)child or parent is not fulfilling. I spent 45 years taking care of my daughter instead of working a full time job. I would do it again even though there were side effects. Social Security does not recognize what I did as work.

It's nice to see some of Calvin's comic strip cousins living lives of joy and fulfillment.

(198 posts)Gavin Aung Than is a freelance cartoonist based in Melbourne, Australia. After working in the corporate graphic design industry for 8 years he quit his unfulfilling job at the end of 2011 to focus on his true passion, drawing cartoons. Gavin launched Zen Pencils at the start of 2012, a cartoon blog which adapts inspirational quotes into comic stories, and hasnt looked back since.
quoted from Zenpencils.com
Mr. Than drew the cartoon, illustrating the quote from Watterson, though Mr. Than freely copied from Bill's style.
Bill Watterson is a Certified National Treasure.
