Americans are, in fact, loud. Much noticeably louder in conversation than Brits, anyway.

I often had it out with loud American tourists

true story.....on a train in England, the guy pushing the food card did not hear a gal calling him - she yelled, WHAT ARE YOU, FUCKING DEAF?, causing a hush in the railway car and making me CRINGE, hearing her American accent. After a suitable pause I loudly said, "I WANT EVERYONE ON THIS TRAIN TO KNOW NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE ASSHOLES!".........the people erupted in laughter and cheers and high-fiving
