Who knew cats ate corn on the cob?

This is not mine, but is a fine representation of a scene that happened last night at hacienda de rurallib:

1. I had a cat who loved corn on the cob...

She would sit by the stove waiting for the corn pot to cool down and then dig an ear out to eat.

The other cat wasn't so big on corn, but it was hell cleaning fish-- if he was around he'd jump up and clamp down on the tail trying to steal it.

4. A friend of mine had a cat that would streak out of nowhere to steal fish off the fishing polls

He was very successful at it.

3. My cat is particular about his corn

He's not interested in yellow corn but will clutch white corn with fully unsheathed claws to chew on it.

5. Most of the cats I have ever known loved corn on the cob

and I have no idea why. I don't think it's the butter because then they'd just lick it. It's a vegetable and it's sweet - a couple of not-cat-food characteristics. And cat teeth are all wrong for eating corn. And yet the kitties love it.

as soon as I would start shucking it he would come running over out of nowhere. It was like catnip.... it is kind of milky.

I had to share it with him.
