Bought gas at under $3.00/gallon today! It's been a long time

since I paid so little for a fill-up.

Have to admit I used a bonus $.30/gallon from Kroger shopping . This is in Ohio.
The price without bonus was $3.28+, and I hadn't seen even that low for I don't know how long.
My Kroger bonus came from double bonus points they give for weekend shopping, otherwise I don't rack up that many points in a month.

Yes, it does feel good, though realistically, the savings is no big deal and I blow that amount on mindless purchases regularly.
Old habits of frugality are hard to lose.

I like to remind my right-leaning muscle car friends of that fact.

I lived in north Georgia for a while. Gas was 87 cents a gallon. The sign was not broken. 87 cents.

Yes, the pennies add up. I 'shop' for best prices, always do, so over the years its worth something.

I've found a surprising difference in gas prices even for the stations closest to me. People post local gas prices from all over the U.S. and Canada...

I also get points for cents off a gallon from Price Chopper, but it depends on the prices. The gas stations closest to me currently vary by more than 20-cents-a-gallon. The last group of prices I posted went from $3.58.9-a-gallon to $3.83.9!

looking at colleges and I was surprised to find that where I live now is one of the cheapest places at $3.69/gal. Down in Santa Barbara it was $4.38/gal. Kettleman City they were charging $4.68/gal.
