The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsFriday night is a much better night for a drinking thread than Wednesday.
For those who were there Wednesday night, don't worry about me. I'm having a few sips of Cabernet, and no vodka!...
What's everyone drinking tonight?...

My favorite liqueur is peppermint schnapps, but whatever works for you...

(112,070 posts)To quote Chef from South Park, "There's a time and a place for everything, and it's called college," A friend and I split a fifth one Friday night and I definitely paid for it on Saturday morning.
I also had some apricot brandy awhile ago and found it delicious.

(149,564 posts)Tomorrow I must get up bright and early (for me!) and get myself over to a poetry workshop. I'm looking forward to it a lot.
I need to sleep well, and alcohol interferes with that, for me.
I'm glad you're having a good night!

(24,146 posts)i think the vapor pen was just too close to real cigs for me, so i'm going to try either the patch and chewing the world's supply of gum or talking to my head doc about meds that can help but won't interact with everything i'm taking now. i'll get myself squared away and then start working on the husband to quit again, too.
Callmecrazy
(3,065 posts)My doc at the VA got me thirty days of patches and she told me it's like taking antibiotics... use all the patches for the entire thirty days. Recognize your triggers and distract yourself. Take notice of your physical changes like how your chest opens up, your nose is more sensitive, and (for me) how you can belly laugh without it turning into a coughing fit,
One more thing and then I'll shut up. Quit because you want to. Support your husband in his journey but he has to take the first step alone. My sister and I quit together and she gave up but I stood firm because I wouldn't be thwarted in my journey to be smoke free. I haven't touched tobacco since February and I never will again.
I rootin' for you, Fizz. JUST DO IT.

(53,339 posts)But if I'm up late and get hungry I can pour a glass of Merlot to go with a tray of sliced roast beef, pepperoni, and pepper jack and smoked gouda cheeses with club crackers.

(66,309 posts)Oh well, at least your midnight snack sounds delicious...

(53,339 posts)Just discussing it here was enough to make me go to the kitchen and fix my tray and open the Merlot.
I'd already had a dinner of macaroni salad and milk, and the cold cuts, cheese and Merlot really hit the spot.
In fact, it was so good that I'm doing the same for dinner tonight.

Oh, and I also found that I still had some port wine spreadable cheddar to round out my cheeses. I probably should buy a lottey ticket.

(3,275 posts)I'm still on a health kick for the next month. No alcohol, vegan diet, exercising everyday, no caffeine, sleeping 7-8 hours a night, etc.
If I survive this month, I'm definitely having a margarita or two. I hope you enjoyed your cabernet.

(14,400 posts)I love trying the Marzen beers that come out in the fall. This one's pretty good but not quite as good as the Hooker.
