I thought we were past this point in our relationship. Now I'm in tears.

He snuck "Mr. Bojangles" onto my mp3 player.

He's always sneaking sad songs onto my player because he knows they make me cry.

7. One time he put "Seasons in the Sun" on my player.

I started blubbering like an idiot right in the middle of the office.

He's also hit me with "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "Sullivan" by Caroline Spine. Beautiful songs but I'm such a sap.

8. At seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in; he said, "Fellas, it's bin good t'know ya!"

That line gets me every time... It's indelibly linked with Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle for some reason. Both have strong emotional associations for me.

6. I guess it could be worse.

He could be putting The Eagles' songs on your player.

9. the dog up and died, he up and died

after twenty years he still grieves

I once found a dog collar with old vet tags in the closet of an ex - I asked him about it - the collar had belonged to Inky, a solid black cocker spaniel he had grown up with - it was almost 30 years later and he still teared up, talking about that dog
