1. I might have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc when I feel like it.

Maybe with dinner, or later. One glass is all I need - more makes me sleepy.

Now that 5-6 ounces is considered a serving for women, I try to limit to one-two glasses once a week. It is a splurge for me.

Funny you should bring this up tonight, since I treated myself to a good bottlle only to find my pressurized opener had "run out" and I didn't have a replacement cartridge. I tried to pry the cork out with my old hand opener, only to find it had been used to puncture omega 3 fish oil capsules for the dog. So, now I am afraid the cork that was pushed through into the bottles is going to turn the wine with fish oil residue--LOL... Arrgh!

3. Too many variables. If you have to ask, perhaps it's not the time to have any.

Drinking is something you should only do in an environment in which you feel absolutely safe.

I usually share a bottle of wine with my spouse. Half each.

Our favorites:

Rioja Campo Viejo Tempranillo 2006.

Martín Codáx Albariño. Any vintage.

But to put up with your BIL, perhaps a Gnarly Head will be necessary:

Drink copiously...

+1 on the McManus.

It's my goto bottle when I find it. Whenever I see it on a wine list at a business dinner I'll recommend it and have always gotten great feedback.

but I've gotten to where I try to just sip on one glass through out the evening. I've started limiting myself to once one a week.

13. Wine with meals here. Better not to drink any kind of alcohol before going to bed

as it interferes with normal sleep patterns. http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/news/20130118/alcohol-sleep

Most women are advised to limit alcohol consumption to one drink/day.
