Meet our beautiful new fur baby.

This fella lived for almost 6 years with the same person(s) until one member of the family decided he had to go. Then followed short-term arrangements until we learned that he needed a forever home asap. He had four moves, and was in three houses within one week...all with other indoor animals. Thus, he has been a bit wary, but that didn't stop him from letting our dog know she was no longer the only alpha in the house. They are close to the same size, and are coexisting fine as long as the dog doesn't try the old butt-sniff get-acquainted routine.

He was named Prince, but I don't care for that so I just call him Sweet P, and he says "meh." I have never had a male cat before, but since he was neutered, I guess I won't notice the difference. Although he does refuse to let me in the bathroom alone, so he may be a voyeur, doomed to spend the rest of his life gazing upon old lady body parts. I have also never had a white cat before, but I understand that "tweed" is the new black, or at least that is my story.

He is bonding only with me and ignoring my sister which is sad because she loves cats too. My bedroom was designated his safe haven until he felt comfortable. I suspect when he spends more time roaming the house, he will take any lap available.

I don't know yet if he is going to be a keyboard cat: he ignores me when I am on the computer. He seems to be a happy camper and we are glad to give him a home.

But I was very clear with myself that I would marry not only a man who tolerated cats, but loved them. My husband is a huge kitty fan and is smitten with all our kitties.

Men who hate cats are the worst. Almost all of them have control issues, in my experience.

Which would explain why the don't like these wonderfully independent creatures that we adore. I could not live without cats around me.

Prince. I call him Big Boy, most of the time. He has the same pink ears and pink nose and on top of his head is heart shaped black spot.

He is a real Love Bug.

Be careful of sunburn if you let Sweet P go outside.

For some reason Big Boy seems to know he can get sunburned and hangs in the shade and prefers early morning/ evening time for his out door activities. He is such a Smart Kitty.

Will Sweet P be a total indoor cat?

I have considered trying him on a leash, but he may be too old for new tricks. I had a siamese once who loved to go walking on a leash. We live in a small town in a rural area with no leash laws, so we have dogs that run loose. Also have occasional foxes, bears and other critters that might not just want to play with a kitty.

Big Boy sounds like a cutie, too.

Love the black heart on top of Love Bug's head. I had a black cat that lived for 20+ years. She was not very affectionate, but she was fun company. I didn't think I would ever get over it when she was gone...she had been in the family longer than my daughter who was in high school.

Thanks for sharing the pix.

Piss Ripper and was very skittish when I first got her but, she has settled in now and, is quite affectionate, too.

They both snuggle up to me at night. One on one side and one on the other ... they keep me pinned in actually.

You should see me trying to winnow my way out, trying not to disturb them, so I can get to the bathroom!

more affectionate than females. I have no scientific proof to back that up, just decades of experience. I hope you have many happy years together. BTW, that "family member" sounds like a jerk, but his/her loss is your gain. You're awesome for giving that handsome fella a forever home!

On edit I see that the jerk was the husband. He DEFINITELY would've been the one to go. What an arrogant, jackassish thing to do.

are more affectionate. I also think they are more laid back. At present, I have 4 females; 3 are real DIVAs.

This boy is going to LOVE being in your home and I'll bet you will be BFFs real soon. Bless you for giving this boy his forever home.

BTW, you might want to start carrying a lint roller around with you. When I fostered 3 mostly white cats last year, I found that white fur shows on everything!

I also bought a brush. He doesn't exactly like it, but he is tolerant.

He is pretty laid-back and not, at least so far, much of a jumper. He gets on my bed and the toilet seat (the better to see what I am doing in the shower) but that is it so far. I have never had a cat that didn't check out the tops of all the furniture.

You are a good person to foster. There is so much need, and too few people willing.

He is large and a bit on the pleasantly plump side. I haven't had a chance to weigh him yet. I am giving him some time to settle down before taking him to the vet. We will see if that results in reduced rations.
