Since both teams I can't stand, I DVR it, and skip through the game to the ads.

I can't stand Super Bowl parties. Someone always asks 'What do you do?' while I'm trying to watch the damn game!
Last Super Bowl party I went to was with a bunch of Patriots fans, the year they lost to the Giants. All the fans were acting like they had already won. I picked the Giants for that game. Kept trying to convince them to watch the damn game. They acted all shocked that the Patriots lost. Of course they didn't watch the game unfold. Heck, I don't think any of them had even ever watched a game or knew how the game is played. By an entire team. Not by one quarterback.

(12,132 posts)But I watch anyway. I'll make my Superbowl crab dip and make sure there's plenty of beer and hope the game is as good as the NFC conference championship game was today.

(27,247 posts)I think my first one was the 1969 Jets-Colts game with Broadway Joe Namath going against Johnny Unitas, and then I watched Minnesota lose to the Chiefs in the 1970 game, but I don't remember watching either the '71 or '72 game, or anything after the '73 game.

(21,020 posts)I've had to watch most of the Pats games this season.
I DVR it, then escape into the bedroom where I listen to music or knit or something, occasionally checking the ESPN gamecast to see what the score is.
Can't stand the suspense. It seriously upsets my stomach and gives me anxiety.
If the score is high enough late enough in the game (like the Pats are ahead by six touchdowns with 10 seconds left in the 4th quarter), I may come out to see the win.
If it goes to the wire before NE wins, I wait till the end of the game then I'll watch it the next day.

(54,256 posts)It was a great party house, just down the street from us.
He had the huge HD TV.
Several friends brought food and gathered there for all the Alabama games and always watched the Super Bowl there.
His motor home caught fire at 3 a.m two days after Christmas and it quickly spread to the house. Total loss. He and his wife and dog were lucky to get out alive.
Since then I've been helping him salvage everything we can.
Next week we'll start on demolishing and carting off what's left.
So sad.

(2,682 posts)The rest of the family will be watching the game at someone else's house, leaving me home with the 4 cats (they'll take the dog with them). If I go out at all it will probably be with a friend to brunch and a movie or two. It's what I usually do on Sundays.

(14,274 posts)I hope Seattle and New England both lose. Neither team garners any interest from me. I've been watching Superbowls since 1970, but I have been bored with the contenders and half time entertainment for about eight of them. This is one of them.
Seattle? New England? Katie Perry? Lenny Kravitz? I'm sure somebody must be excited by that line up, but I am definitely not.
Perhaps if there were some different teams or some rocking music it would be worth my while. And if any of you try to remind me that the commercials are worth watching - really? Commercials? If that is the main draw, I'm out.

(5,435 posts)There's a group of us who have regular Sunday get-togethers about once a month...
We decided to have our own Superbowl party this year (sans spouses or SOs), so we can watch the game and the commercials without any of their guys 'mansplaining' a game that we have all been avid fans of since we were kids. *L*
I think i'm the only one who has a dog in this fight ( GO PATS! ), but i'm sure everyone will have a great time!
