Russell Wilson. Cusp of greatness. Part deax.

If the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl then Russell Wilson will become the first Quarterback in National Football League history to win the Super Bowl two out of the first three years in the league.

I would argue he was the best QB in the NFL in his rookie year, where, if Pete Carroll hadn't tried to freeze the Atlanta kicker with a surprise timeout. It should be 3 in a row for Wilson.

MSG and Hubris added.

2. They are my brother-in-law's favorite team and have been since he was a child.

That's the only reason I'm rooting for them. I could not care less otherwise.

3. The craft beers are on ice. Not "Kraft," beers.

The top shelf Jamaican rum is in the freezer. The man cave is ready, with as much Seahawks swag as I could find. Go
Go G o Seattle Seahawks you're the greatest football team that ever lived.

4. Yup. He's already pretty great.

His teammates believe in him. I was thinking the other day, how many quarterbacks in NFL history could have engineered the comeback he did against the Packers? Very few. Maybe Joe Montana.

I hope he has a great game tomorrow. It's gonna be interesting to see if the Patriots can shut down both him and Lynch.

And whether he scrambles much. Rushing is always the last option for him. His improvisational skills are quite a sight to see.

8. Russell Wilson has intangible qualities. (Attributes that cannot be easily described or defined.)

There is something tangible about his body style itself. He's got plenty of muscle, so much they call him, "Russell the Muscle." He's fast but the best part is his decision making.

Now I'm not a Christian or any other religion but I respect Russell's faith and how it translates into his life. The Patriots have no one who plays like Wilson to prepare them in practice scrimmages. If they concentrate on defending Wilson then Marshawn Lynch should have a 200 yard day.

9. Did you see him play when was a Badger?

He didn't get drafted high because of his size. A lot of folks didn't think he was big enough to see over the huge tackles. It's amazing watching him play, how well he reads defenses & knows where his receivers are or will be. I love his philosophy that he's merely the distributor of the ball, the other guys make the plays. Keeps his teammates very involved.

10. Best QB we ever had.

We came *this* close to beating Oregon in the Rose Bowl with RW. He just ran out of time. My daughter likes RW so much since his days at Wisconsin that she cheers for the Seahawks over the Packers. I don't go quite that far, but Seattle is my second favorite team in the NFL for sure. Really hope you win it tomorrow. The Seahawks-Packers game in the NFC Championship was one of the best NFL playoff games I have ever seen.

O'Brien Schofield was another great one for the Badgers.

11. Much respect for the Packers & their fans.

Rogers & Wilson are my two favorite quarterbacks. Great competitors and good guys. They both volunteer at children's hospitals.

The NFC Championship was something else. Champions trading blows 'til the final bell. Rogers hobbled yet playing with true grit. Clay Mathews III alternating between outside & middle linebacker. What a game!

19. Before this thing ends...

I'm going to predict that Russ and your Hawks win this. The guy is an absolute magician with the game on the line. 1st and goal on the five...

21. That's the breaks.

Tough ending. At least the Seahawks had the opportunity to win it. Like Pete Carroll, I'm still in shock.

Congrats on Aaron Rogers being named MVP for the season. He deserved it!

13. I missed all that religious stuff

because I listen to the games on the radio. I get Steve Raible and Warren Moon with the post game show and interviews. Haven't heard anything about it on the last post game show. I don't understand the hate for either QB. Can you explain it?

17. Brady is a smug jerk.

And, you believe in god, you're religious, fine. Don't need to spout it on television. It's supposed to be a personal thing.

14. If Russell Wilson wins today, his place in Canton is assured

Only one QB with two Super Bowl rings is NOT in Canton (Jim Plunkett). All of the others are in.

Wilson would have two Super Bowl rings earlier than Joe Montana.

15. That's what I was thinking in these last 2 threads.

This is a Hall of Fame Game for Wilson, not just a Super Bowl NFL Championship game.

As I mentioned upthread, in his rookie year, Wilson won a playoff game, the Seahawks were 11-5, and went on the road to Atlanta and the Seahawks rallied to take the lead by one point. The Atlanta team lined up for a long, long field goal and missed it! Hurray Seahawks win!

Nope. Coach Pete Carroll called timeout just as the ball was being snapped in an effort to freeze the Atlanta kicker. So they line up again the Atlanta kicker nails it and the Seahawks lose. That was a tough one to take. Not comparing that loss to Green Bay's though.

I thought they were the best team in Wilson's rookie year too.

16. Also remember...

Both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are headed to the Hall of Fame, and they'll probably be first-ballot selections.

Manning already got his ass handed to him by Russell Wilson.

Tomorrow it's Brady's turn.

18. If Wilson wins today, that fact should not be lost on sportswriters

Beating (as you correctly point out) two certain HOFers in Manning & Brady would, indeed, be a huge accomplishment.

It might also give the sports writing community some well-needed perspective on Andrew Luck.
