Give me ideas for super bowl munchies.
Just going to be mom and me, but I want a variety. She's 88 and loves snacks.

(17,997 posts)That you pick up at the store in a bag, or want something you cook
If you want to cook, here are some. But they are campbells soup so the salt content is high. But yummy

There was a specific recipe for a spinach souffle I used to make all the time, but I can't find it. It was easy, quick and delicious. Always went quickly
I know if you're looking for healthy, these are not what you want. But campbells soup has a ton of great appetizer recipes that are really yummy and some are unusual.
Nope, I don't work for them. Just like quick and easy

(8,976 posts)...it's a special occasion, right? Then kick it loose and deep fry!

Deep frying is perfect for canapes since bite size pieces fry so quickly-you can make small amounts of different treats and serve them serially along with fresh veggies and dip to fill in any "downtime". Wonton wrappers are a simple crust for any filling and who doesn't even crave an order of crispy french fries...chicken wings...bacon wrapped goodies-the list goes on and on.
We certainly shouldn't deep fry every night, but what a great forgotten treat.
This is a great idea.

(7,699 posts)Cracker barrel cheese, pre-sliced, with low-sodium cracker options (Ritz Low sodium and Wheat Thins low-sodium), and paired with some sliced fruit, like fresh strawberries and apple slices. When you are really hungry, one serving (3-4 slices) of that cheese is incredibly satisfying. And enough salt in the cheese that you don't need it in the crackers.
Peanut butter on celery.
Crackers with a thin layer of cream cheese, which you can top off with a slice of fruit as well.
Fruit salad: equal parts of pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, fresh blueberries and fresh strawberries.
I drain the pineapple and oranges but then add just a bit of the light syrup from the oranges to the mix,
and it sweetens up the blueberries and strawberries, draws out juice from the pineapples into the mix,
and the blueberries offset the acidic quality of the pineapple (which, as an old fart who has smoked for
many years, can actually hurt my stomach quite sharply).
A small bowl of thin salted pretzels. After I eat sweet fruit, I tend to want something salty, and vice-versa.
A large Fuji apple, sliced into thin slices, with or without the skin.
This combo gives you creamy and satisfying cheese from two sources, and carbs from the crackers, plus some protein to balance
out the carbs, and gives you some crunchy but not too hard with the pretzels and celery and crackers. And some sweet but not
too sweet nor acidic. Nice touch of color from the fruit is always appetizing and enjoyable. Most of it is finger ready.
Also, if your Mom is elderly, and dentures or teeth might be an issue, all of this stuff is still easily
edible without pain or inconvenience. Or negative after-effects the next day.
Whenever I put this stuff out for friends for our TV nights, it always vanishes.

(16,950 posts)It's basically Frank's Hot Sauce mixed with some Hot Pepper Jelly and lime juice. I bake the wings and put them in a big bowl and mix them with the sauce.
I really like Bobby Flay's wings, but they are a lot of work. These are much easier and very good.
We like these, but they are a bit of work. Worth it, though:

(541 posts)Brown 2 pounds of ground beef in a large skillet or medium sized pot and season with Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning, plop a whole (large, traditional size) package of Velveeta into pot and cook both together until the Velveeta is melted. Serve with Tostitos scoops chips for dipping. Mmmmmm.
back in the day, I would melt Velveeta over popcorn.
My arteries are still complaining.

And on the other side, today someone fixed thick waffles spread with some kind of sugar glaze and chocolate. It was yummy, too!
I always like to have a tray of celery and carrot sticks and ranch dressing on hand.
