George Lucas: Disney Took All Of My Ideas For Star Wars 7 & 'Threw Them Right Into the Garbage'

The new Star Wars movie, coming in December, is nothing like the one George Lucas would have made, the film-maker tells a website called Cinema Blend.

You’ll recall that in 2012 Lucas, who made the first six films in the series, sold the whole Star Wars universe to Disney, for $4 billion, rather than spend a decade on a bunch more instalments. Turns out he also handed over some notes and ideas for film No. 7 – and now he says Disney just threw all those plans in the garbage.

“The ones that I sold to Disney, they came up to the decision that they didn’t really want to do those. “So they made up their own. So it’s not the ones that I originally wrote.”

Lucas is 70. http://montrealgazette.com/entertainment/celebrity/doug-camilli-disney-scrapped-my-star-wars-ideas-lucas-says

If he wanted creative control he should have retained the rights.

Stephen Spielberg fresh off of Raiders. That means Ewoks would have been Wookies. Still sells toys, but in the way RoboCop sold toys instead of Care Bears.

chock full of breezy, "aren't-we-so-clever" sitcom one-liner dialogue that appears in so many films today.

Disney has paid you very handsomely for your creation. Now take your billions & go away George. You don't get to play anymore with these toys.

Oh, and by the way Han shot first!

Deal with it Lucas.

Actually, Han shot ONLY. There was no "second" shot.

Once we accept the shot first/shot second framing of the scene, we have already surrendered.

did an episode yesterday where George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were severely criticized by the kids because they didn't want the old movies "remade," like Lost Ark, Star Wars, etc. The producer/directors were going to go so far as to destroy all negatives of the old favorites. Kids organized and fought...

Goofy episode as usual, but at the same time, it made sense.

I get more news watching South Park then most mainstream sources.

Since I got accustomed to Cartman's swearing, I've become comfortable and share many of the kids' opinions about matters they totally misunderstand but somehow get right...
