She was great in 'Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit' (with Charlotte Coleman - sadly also dead, at just 33, from an asthma attack when she was alone). It looks like it's all available on YouTube, starting here:

She and Prunella Scales ( of Faulty Towers fame) did a marvelous series of Mapp and Lucia, back in ...85? A totally delightful show to watch.

There is a remake of that series this year, but it is dreadful, OMHO.

is that she is one of a small band of actors who has refused Imperial honours.

Of course, no potential recipient is allowed to discuss it, but the fact that such a distinguished and popular actress has no awards or medals to her credit tells us all we need to know.

So we can add personal integrity to her list of achievements.

she was in, something like her life was temporarily spared because the grim reaper couldn't bring himself to take it yet.

It was called Mulberry. Mulberry was an apprentice Grim Reaper sent to help Miss Farnaby cross to the other side. But he wanted to make her last days on earth happy.

I thought it was a wonderful series but it only lasted two seasons. Bugger.

I first became aware of her through the series Mulberry in which she played Miss Farnaby (Karl Howman played Mulberry, a loving servant in her household with a slightly sinister secret). I still remember it fondly (highly recommended for anyone who likes bittersweet comedy). Below is the episode where we find out who the mysterious stranger really is.

We will miss her greatly.
