People hate rockabilly?

I was doing some research online, and I found that an awful lot of people just absolutely despise rockabilly music I always figured it was universally loved! Just goes to show, you never can tell. And by the way, here's some rockabilly:

6. Really??

I love rockabilly. It's the first music I was really exposed to -- both my parents were huge Elvis fans. Early rock pretty much was rockabilly, or at least that's how I understand it. I can't imagine people hating it, unless they just can't stand any hint of southern-ness.

7. I never thought of any of your posted songs

as being "rockabilly." I was born in the early 40's and always thought that was Rock n' Roll.

Guess I'm not clear on what rockabilly is.

8. Rockabilly pretty much is early rock and roll (and later songs that stylistically copy it)

Melding black R&B (rock) and white country (hillbilly) styles together, so stuff like Elvis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and others in the thread.

Here's Bo Diddley playing "Bo Diddley"

And here's Buddy Holly playing the same song:

The country influences in Holly's version are what makes it rockabilly instead of R&B.

On the other side, compare Elvis or Carl Perkin's versions of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" to Bill Monroe's original. The vocal melody is more syncopated, and the meter of the song is changed from a lyrical waltz to an insistent 4/4 time with the classic rock backbeat.
