usic has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. When a 20-something Sam Calagione was hammering out a business plan for a brewery that used nontraditional ingredients, he was fueled by the music of Miles Davis, Guided by Voices and The Replacements.
Today, from the Music Series beers with Miles Davis, Pearl Jam, Deltron 3030 and others, to the record swap Analog-A-Go-Go, to the live original music every weekend at the pub, you could say that music is in Dogfish Head’s blood (or should we say beer?)
“Our brewery has been obsessed with music since long before we opened our doors,” Calagione says. “And these days, anytime I’m in the brewhouse, there’s something playing.”
So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes “Analog Beer for the Digital Age” to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.
