Daily Holidays - March 6

National Frozen Food Day Since 1984, National Frozen Food Day has been celebrated annually on March 6th. Frozen foods got their own special day more than 50 years after they first appeared in the 1930?s.

The process of frozen foods was first developed by Clarence Birdseye in 1930, and became available on grocery store shelves in and around Springfield, Massachusetts.
“Clarence Frank Birdseye II (December 9, 1886 – October 7, 1956) was an American inventor, entrepreneur, and naturalist, and is considered to be the founder of the modern frozen food industry” (Wikipedia)

The initial product line featured 26 items, including 18 cuts of frozen meat, spinach and peas, a variety of fruits and berries, blue point oysters, and fish fillets. Consumers liked the new products and this is considered to be, the birth of retail frozen foods.

The frozen food industry plays a big part in our lives. There is usually more than one aisle of frozen foods in the grocery stores, full of everything: some of which include, breakfast foods, fruits and vegetables TV dinners and ice cream. One of our all time favorites, of course, is the frozen pizza. http://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-frozen-food-day-march-6/

Cheesecakes can be prepared baked or unbaked and are often served topped with fruit, chocolate or whipped cream. There are many flavors in which cheesecakes can be prepared however this day honors the White Chocolate Cheesecake. http://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-white-chocolate-cheesecake-day-march-6/

Employee Appreciation Day CLEVELAND, Ohio - Showing employees that they are valued involves more than just the boss bringing in a box of doughnuts or handing out certificates, or even gift cards, for a job well done.

Friday is the 20th anniversary of Employee Appreciation Day. What better time to offer a primer on the importance of bosses conveying to good employees that they are well regarded? What better person to offer such advice than Bob Nelson, who came up with this way for bosses to honor the people who report to them? He said showing such thankfulness shouldn't be limited to a one-day observance.

"This should be a daily thing," he said. "Not every person every day, but every day a manager should do something for somebody to show appreciation.

"Making sure that people are appreciated should be sort of a no-brainer -- but few do this," Nelson said. "Managers have all of these excuses: They are too busy. They don't think it is their job to do this. No one ever shows them any appreciation, blah, blah, blah." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/03/employee_appreciation_day_is_f.html

Middle Name Pride Day Whether it be Horton, Eunice, or that special family name that’s been passed down for the last five generations, your middle name is part of defining who you are, and where you fit in your own family. Celebrate your middle name in all its guts, glory and finery on Middle Name Pride Day!

It may embarrass you, it may describe your personality in some way, or it may be something you actually like and appreciate. Whatever your middle name is, today is the day for you to write it down, share it with someone, or shout it out with pride. After all, your full name is part of who you are – and your middle name was chosen by your parents or loved ones as a way to link your whole name together. It is special, no matter how cringy, and deserves its place in the limelight! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/middle-name-pride-day/

Dress in Blue Day The idea for ‘Dress in Blue Day’ was originally come up with by Anita Mitchell, a stage IV colon cancer survivor who had lost a close friend and her own father to the disease. Greatly saddened by the fact that both of those tragedies could have been prevented, Ms. Mitchell saw a need to bring greater awareness to a cancer not many people wanted to discuss. So, in 2006, she worked with her children’s school to coordinate a recognition day. That very year in March, students who normally had to wear uniforms to class were allowed to wear a blue outfit of their choice, if only they made a $1 donation to colon cancer awareness.

There have been some hopes to turn all of March, and not just the first Friday of the month, blue by promoting colon cancer awareness all month long, much like National Breat Cancer Awareness Month takes place every October. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/dress-in-blue-day/

for contributing to the threads and today in particular for the Ziggy!

It reminds me of an awning installed at work to protect an expensive electronic door which only moved the ice/snow/rain problem and didn't fix it (actually made it worse). But, then we deal with the folks who Have All The Answers, just Don't Know The Questions......... When they talk and don't want to listen I just....

And to My Dear Crewleader
