I am wary to post this........

but I gave it some thought & am doing so. I posted this fundraiser yesterday. I find myself in a pickle. I have had a hard past 6 years, physical/health and employment issues, and Mom has had health issues and this past 6-9 months it has taken a toll on her & me.
I am employed, but having to curtail my hours punched me hard.

I am not asking my fellow DU'ers to help me out, but if you know where to post this link, it would be helpful. I don't want to post it on facebook or twitter as I am a fairly private person.

Thank you.

3. Contact the St. Vincent dePaul Society in your area.

They do not proselytize.
They can often help with one-time emergencies.

Contact Senior services in your area. They are knowledgeable about whatever sources of help that are in your area.

4. Thank you.......

actually St. Vincent's has been in better days a charity of mine. When my brother was hospitalized for 3 months the St. Vincent's at their church was very good to him & his family.

I'll recontact Senior Services. I contacted them about a year ago for services for my Mom, and they weren't very helpful. I was looking for help with Mom, possibly someone coming in the late afternoon, early evening with her dinner preparation and such.

Their attitude was since she was living with me (not alone in her own home) that it was my responsibility to care for her. When I asked about respite their answer was no.

No harm in trying again.

5. Is there a Meals on wheels in your community? Or a

church group that could provide a visitor or occasional dinner?

6. Yep.....

we did Meals on Wheels for 2 months last year (3 days a week), but Mom didn't like the food, though it looked and smelled good to me. But you gave me a thought, a woman in our building, who we know and like recently became widowed. I'll talk to her & maybe she can come up a couple times a week, she make dinner one day and Mom the other. Or I could make it a head of time and they would just have to heat it..

As for a church I'll have to give that some thought.
