you are sitting on the toilet at home for a few hours after taking the stuff that cleans you out. The procedure itself is not as tough to get through. Just what I've heard.

They put you out and you wake up a while later with no ill effects other than the anesthesia. The prep doesn't even seem that bad at first, but about halfway in you start thinking you'd rather stick a garden hose up your ass.

Imagine a dozen of us eating hard jello and chicken fat to sustain ourselves through the fasting period. I have so many ideas for the garland we can string around the room.

I've had a number of c-scopies. The prep is nowhere as bad as it used to be, and the rest is a piece of cake. You'll be fine.

Except no Raquel Welch.

But then you can bring a phone and play some tunes:

Seriously, it will be fine but stay close to the potty!

I've had a few colonoscopies. You're sedated through an IV. The doctor told me I could watch on the monitor but - after a minute I fell asleep. When you wake up it's all over and you're HUNGRY.

nor the procedure from two minutes after being in the room and on the table,
so there isn't much I can tell you about it!

(I have problems eliminating any form of anesthesia from my body.... when I had my gall bladder removed, about four days of my life vanished from my brain... no idea what happened .... )

The prep is yucky but there is no reason to be terrified of it and the procedure is a breeze as you'll be knocked out from it. No pain. Good for you for getting it done!

Even the stuff they make you drink is easier to get down than it used to be, You drink it and it does the rest. And that is not really all that unpleasant. It's not like when you have the stomach flu or food poisoning and you are in the bathroom all day sick as a dog. Your ass does its thing and leaves the rest of you alone so you feel ok mostly. Make sure you have an extra 4 pack of Charmin and some reading material and you'll be fine. As others have said, they give you an anesthetic and one minute you're awake and the next it's all over. The worst part, for me, is the fact that you can't eat the day before. I was fucking hungry when it was all over. The message is, don't sweat it.

Now they use stuff that's as weakening as real diarrhea. The stuff they used to use has a rare side effect of kidney or liver damage, I forget which.

I have had several colonoscopies over the decades. After this last one with the new prep stuff, I said, I'm 70, not having any more of those.

I'm 66 and I've done it with the old and the new stuff. Had no problem either time. Managed to get caught up on my reading.

I've had three, because on the first one they found some pre-cancerous cells. Each time the prep was a little different. The worst was when I had to do an enema (my first). After it had worked its magic, I stood up too fast and almost passed out!
Have some tushie cream to soothe the soreness you'll experience after pooping your little heart out. I recommend Balneol; it's expensive but so worth it, and you can get a $2 coupon on-line.
The meds made me feel great, and the only unpleasant after-effect is that you'll be expelling the air they pump in for the procedure. Once that's gone eat whatever you want and enjoy!

and you have to have a driver to take you home. My friend who took me, had a coffee & a bottled water waiting for me, she knows me well. When I got home, I napped for a bit, but it wasn't too bad.
