Why are juice cans so darn difficult to open?

All I want to do is make some orange juice so its cold when I have breakfast tomorrow morning. I cannot get the stupid little plastic strip around the top of the can to come off though.

It takes a strong man to open one. I have to bang it on the floor a few times to loosen the top.
