(54,051 posts)10. My alltime favorite
He inspired me to take up the 12 string guitar, which I still play today. I even sought out the guy who made his guitars back in the seventies "to find once again that Student Prince sound."

(54,051 posts)13. I have a great photo of a matching pair (6 & 12) he made for me 15 years ago.
Most of the other guitars he made for me were made made in the mid-to-late 1970s.
I have not played a 6 string made by Boo that I consider truly spectacular
I have rarely played a 12 string made by Boo that I DIDN'T consider spectacular.

....who was a member of the Byrds when the song was written ( though not a co-writer ) before going on to co-found The Flying Burrito Brothers.

Eight Miles High Lyrics
Eight miles high
And when you touch down
You'll find that it's
Stranger than known
Signs in the street
That say where you're goin'
Are somewhere
Just being their own
Nowhere is
There warmth to be found
Among those afraid
Of losing their ground
Rain gray town
Known for its sound
In places
Small faces unbound
Round the squares
Huddled in storms
Some laughing
Some just shapeless forms
Sidewalk scenes
And black limousines
Some living
Some standing alone
Songwriters
GENE CLARK, DAVID CROSBY, ROGER MC GUINN

The song was subject to a U.S. radio ban shortly after its release, following allegations published in the broadcasting trade journal the Gavin Report regarding perceived drug connotations in its lyrics.[5][6] The band strenuously denied these allegations at the time, but in later years both Clark and Crosby admitted that the song was at least partly inspired by their own drug use.[5][7] The failure of "Eight Miles High" to reach the Billboard Top 10 is usually attributed to the broadcasting ban,[8] but some commentators have suggested that the song's complexity and uncommercial nature were greater factors.[5][9]
