What dish should I take to a potluck? Ideas? Or -- what's your favorite dish to take to a potluck?
Thanks!

(26,117 posts)2 bags of frozen corn, 1-2 blocks of cream cheese (depending on how much "sauce" you want - I use 2), one stick of butter, put it all in a crock pot for a few hours, stirring occasionally, till it's hot/melted.
Not healthy, though.

(26,117 posts)Apple Walnut Salad
3 Apples chopped (Gala or Red Delicious)
3 teaspoons Lemon Juice
1 cup Chopped Celery
½ cup Chopped Walnuts
¼ cup Raisins
3 teaspoons Honey
1½ cup Plain Yogurt
(or use 1½ c. vanilla yogurt and skip the honey)
Mix it up right before you serve it (or the walnuts might get kinda soft)

(4,631 posts)Safely homemade and legal. A dish of good company after the last spark has faded and it's safe to go back inside.

(20,176 posts)Easy to make, people think they're fancy, and there are usually too many desserts/entrees/vegetables while not enough starch side-dishes.

(21,484 posts)I have a new diagnosis* that precludes me from drinking beer. For the first time in my adult life, I'll be beerless at a party.
* I put it this way because I am a certified hypochondriac, and I always have a new diagnosis.
JustABozoOnThisBus
(23,339 posts)There may be time for a newer new diagnosis that prescribes beer as the cure.
I am also bummed, that you wrote "beerless" and "party" in the same sentence.
Anyway, bon apetit.

(23,272 posts)I tend to veer vegetarian when I go to a potluck because I never know how many people eat meat.
If you know folks eat meat I love to bring an assortment of "pinwheels" - tortillas stuffed with an assortment of fillings. Roll them up. Slice into 1 in thick appetizers sizes. Yum and very healthy. ( and my family loves them so anything that comes home will be scarfed up the next day. They keep well).

(1,232 posts)parmesan. You can toss in loads of other stuff into it, salad type things, thinly sliced red onions, croutons for crunch, and loads of fresh rough chopped basil. Always a hit and super easy!

(22,767 posts)it's usually always this one, because once I've taken it somewhere I'm usually not asked again to bring a dish, but specifically requested to bring this one:

Need a couple of baguette or really nice crackers to go with.
