The Most Urgent Question of the Day

What dish should I take to a potluck? Ideas? Or -- what's your favorite dish to take to a potluck?

Thanks!

2. A quick dish

2 bags of frozen corn, 1-2 blocks of cream cheese (depending on how much "sauce" you want - I use 2), one stick of butter, put it all in a crock pot for a few hours, stirring occasionally, till it's hot/melted.

Not healthy, though.

4. For a healthy option

Apple Walnut Salad

3 Apples chopped (Gala or Red Delicious)
3 teaspoons Lemon Juice
1 cup Chopped Celery
cup Chopped Walnuts
cup Raisins
3 teaspoons Honey
1 cup Plain Yogurt
(or use 1 c. vanilla yogurt and skip the honey)

Mix it up right before you serve it (or the walnuts might get kinda soft)

7. I usually bring fried chicken. I've a great recipe

I soak the chicken overnight in pittbull milk, then I roll it around in corn flakes as the breading.

19. Fireworks

Safely homemade and legal. A dish of good company after the last spark has faded and it's safe to go back inside.

21. I always take polenta or risotto.

Easy to make, people think they're fancy, and there are usually too many desserts/entrees/vegetables while not enough starch side-dishes.

31. Bozo, this reply bums me out.

I have a new diagnosis* that precludes me from drinking beer. For the first time in my adult life, I'll be beerless at a party.

* I put it this way because I am a certified hypochondriac, and I always have a new diagnosis.

33. When's the potluck?

There may be time for a newer new diagnosis that prescribes beer as the cure.

I am also bummed, that you wrote "beerless" and "party" in the same sentence.

Anyway, bon apetit.

24. Baked beans, pasta salad or a fruit salad. Stuffed mushrooms if its all adults

I tend to veer vegetarian when I go to a potluck because I never know how many people eat meat.

If you know folks eat meat I love to bring an assortment of "pinwheels" - tortillas stuffed with an assortment of fillings. Roll them up. Slice into 1 in thick appetizers sizes. Yum and very healthy. ( and my family loves them so anything that comes home will be scarfed up the next day. They keep well).

26. Pasta Salad; bow tie pasta with fresh tomatoes, slathered in Newmans italian dressing, topped with

parmesan. You can toss in loads of other stuff into it, salad type things, thinly sliced red onions, croutons for crunch, and loads of fresh rough chopped basil. Always a hit and super easy!

28. That was my first thought. Nothing better than a pasia salad.

Whenever we had a pot luck luncheon at the office, I always brought a pasta salad and it was gobbled up.

Gotta love a good pasta salad!

35. If I'm asked to bring an app...

it's usually always this one, because once I've taken it somewhere I'm usually not asked again to bring a dish, but specifically requested to bring this one:

http://www.napastyle.com/recipes/2014/03/salsa-di-parmigiano/

Need a couple of baguette or really nice crackers to go with.
