my achievement for the day or fuck, yeah, volvos

drove out to meet my bff for dinner in the next city over and it rolled over just as i pulled into the parking lot. i have been waiting for this for months. 91 740 volvo wagon we've had for about three years, but it doesn't see much real driving.

not as cool as my dad's achievement last weekend, though.

89 740 sedan purchased in 1995 that was used for a 100 mile daily commute for years.

My current car doesn't have the numbers that roll over the way yours do--they're led's or something electronic.

I remember my old Camry. It was close to 100,00 and I really wanted to watch it go. So where did it happen? On an onramp getting onto a SoCal freeway, as I was going home from work!

I did manage to watch, but good grief.

Nice that you were able to photograph yours!

Another milestone is near - the moon is a bit under 240,000 miles away from Earth (on average).

And Volvos are great! I lost mine when my son totaled it - otherwise I'm sure it would have run another decade or two...

A few weeks ago, my Bessie, a 1997 Cavalier that my mom gave me in 2001 with 4X,XXX miles hit 200,000. We had to drive it up and down the road a couple of times so we would hit the mark at home instead of on our way out (because how else would I get the picture!).

Lots of living that was!

So has the clock.

I don't see any point in fixing either.

My brother and his wife (my SIL) both own Volvo wagons. If I ever buy another car, I would seriously consider a Volvo ...

Your Volvo has approximately the distance on the clock that separates the Moon from the Earth. That's approximately 238,900 miles on average, making your car a Moon car.

I've had one car go over that, and another that's about to roll over 200,000.

Useless trivia for the day for you. Carry on.

It constantly needed break pads and was too expensive for me after a while. Solid car, though.

which for me was one of the most beautiful cars from the 60s.

Old Swedish cars are cool. I've been driving an old Saab model 96 since forever (same year and color as this one). It must have nearly a half million miles on it and it still runs great and has had relatively few repairs over the years. It seems indestructible.
