so that brings back some memories.
Spent much of my younger life being an experiment at the university hospital.

I surely hope that kid the best and hope his/her problems are small.

most of what you do in an eye-exam is fine-tuning and confirmation now a days...the testing equipment now automatically measures refraction and is accurate 90%+ of the time in assessing your visual accuity. All the doctor is doing with "better or worse?" is confirming that the machine was right.

had one, too. My granddaughter is 20 months and has outgrown it. Just a few weeks ago she had eye surgery- she was cross eyed. I hated that she had to have it, but the poor thing was running into stuff all the time. The doc said eventually the brain would start ignoring one eye, effectively blinding an eye. Things seem much better now.

Now I have to Google this place.

But seriously, I watched this 10 times already. Precious!

In this case, I imagine they had the glasses and were just putting them on Cutie periodically to give her time to adjust. You can see how she's fighting against having something on her head. Eventually, babies figure out that seeing well is pretty cool.

but I've never heard of putting glasses on anyone for the first time in a pub - and if it's true I want to go to that optometrist.

I knew that her vision was bad before she was 1...but the doctor told
me that I couldn't have a referral to an eye doctor until she was 18 months.

I took her in, and the pediatric eye specialist wrote me the prescription for glasses.
He told me that her wearing them was non-negotiable and that I should put her
into "time-out" for taking them off, increasing the "time out" time until she stopped
fighting. Sounded very draconian and scary to me, as she was a very "good" baby
who never gave me any trouble!

When we went in for the fitting, she fought having the glasses put on, and my heart sank.

However, a week later we picked the actual glasses up and after I buckled her into her
car seat, I turned around in my seat and put the glasses on her, expecting her to
rip them off.

She didn't. She just sat there and really LOOKED at everything around her and made
a triumphant sound. She didn't want to take them OFF, not even at nap or bedtimes!

We had some struggles with "lazy-eye" screens after that, and her vision still
SUCKS, but she can wear contacts now.
