not most talented...not who can shred the best..not who can do the most 1/64 notes in a row without missing.I'm not looking for some esoteric bullshit no one ever heard of either
At the end of the day while sitting on the back veranda drinking a sam adams who do you unwind to that people actually have heard of? What is your *that's just fucking cool* stuff?Any genre...dont care.50's doop to metal to pop to whatever.

(11,546 posts)his/their music just hits me in the gut. I've been listening for 20+ years and don't see any chance of ever stopping. My favorite PJ memory were the three San Francisco shows back in the summer of 2006. Eddie sang "Last Kiss" and held my daughter's hand for part of the song and sang part of it to me. I am such a dork.
btw - what about you??

I've been churning through the entire discography in the past few weeks, and, to coin a phrase, they "Speak to Me"

I heard his "Armadillo" album at 19, and it changed my outlook on music forever. I spent thousands
of hours trying to figure out how he did what he did, and went out to Escondido, California, to meet
the guy who made his guitars at the time, and get him to make me some as well. I've still never met
Leo, but Boo Podunavac has been a friend for 30 years now.
What Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix have been to the electric 6 string guitar, Leo Kottke is to the
acoustic 12 string guitar.

He's a genuinely nice, humble brilliant musician.

(54,325 posts)Especially in 1975, as I might have turned out to be a much better guitarist because of it. I was
playing old Guilds back then (still have 2 mid-sixties vintage 212 XL guitars). I did some touring
anyway, but was always in awe of Kottke. Still am, really.
