Jams have discernable pieces of fruit in them. Jellies have the fruit strained down to a smooth consistency.

3. I learned in botany class that berries

are fruits that have small seeds engulfed in pulpy flesh. That would leave out avocados and bananas, but would include tomatoes, watermelons and grapes, as well as blackberries, raspberries, and gooseberries.

My favorite fruits are bramble fruits: blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, marionberries, loganberries...and I LOVE watermelon.

Tomatoes and avocados are great, too.
