What commercial airports have you flown into/out of/deplaned at?

The running list to the best of my knowledge and admittedly rather limited travels:

Baltimore
Fort Lauderdale
Westchester (NY)
West Palm Beach
Atlanta
Orlando
Jacksonville
Las Vegas
Miami
Tampa
Washington Dulles
Washington National
Louisville
Dallas Fort Worth
Nassau (Bahamas)
Raleigh Durham
Grand Canyon
North Las Vegas
Norfolk

I'm not including Birmingham (Alabama), where my plane landed as a stopover but I never personally deplaned.

I'm also not including the various small general aviation airports my dad flew me to when he flew recreationally.

My favorite airport probably would be Jacksonville--it's large enough to be considered a major big city airport with all the usual amenities but not so large that it's overwhelming, plus it's very bright and airy.

My least favorite would probably be Atlanta.....it's just so huge, and having to transfer planes there can be a hassle and a half, especially when your incoming flight is in one terminal and your outgoing flight is several terminals over, and you only have a half hour in between flights.

John Wayne, Orange Co.
Kansas City
Albuquerque
Las Vegas
Fort Myers
Boston
Portland, Me.
One in Rhode Island
One in New Hampshire
Albany

I probably forgot a few. I used to tag along with my husband on business trips sometimes. Haven't flown anywhere since it became such a hassle. I used to like the old Pittsburgh airport. It was easy to get in and out of.

I used to work for an airline so I got around quite a bit; before that I worked as a flight instructor so I flew into a lot of obscure little airports as well. I agree that Atlanta sucks very much, as does O'Hare, for a lot of the same reasons. Not crazy about DFW either. Schiphol (Amsterdam) is huge, too, but it's interesting in that it's more like a gigantic high-end shopping mall with airplanes parked outside. The new Detroit airport is excellent. Anchorage is fun because you can just sit there and watch takeoffs and landings by 747s and other large aircraft from airlines you never heard of (they stop there for refueling).

It's been decades since I went through San Antonio, Denver, and Hobby, so I don't know how good the experience is for getting in and around them. When I was returning from New Zealand, I thought Love Field was the best domestic airport, with Sydney being the best of the two overseas. LAX was the worst, at least in the domestic terminals. Their international terminal was like going into another country, one that was modern and pleasing

Both Darwin and Alice Springs have quite presentable airports now.

Still a single main runway though.

Tue Sep 29, 2015, 11:50 PM
Sep 2015

but it would include an airport not so far on anybody's list, KIV, Chișinău, Moldova.

We flew on a YAK-42, a Russian plane that is similar to a 727. We took a bus to the airplane and went up stairs from the belly of the aircraft. The seating, apparently, was general admission. Someone was in my seat and I was told to find another one. It was in the first row, my knees were touching the wall in front of me, and until a female seatmat saw my predicament, my head was touching the bulkhead with my neck at an awkward angle. The luggage rack above the seats was like that of a Greayhound from 40 years ago. It was a shelf with a little rope 2" above the front edge. Also, the seats flopped forward like it was a two-door car. The only redeeming qualities of that two hour flight was that the food and wine served was excellent. (Cold roast pork, dark bread, butter, fruit, cheese, red wine, and cake.

I used to travel 20 to 24 times per year all over the world. (A little under two-thirds North America, the rest Asia/Pacific and Europe)

That went on for 18 to 20 years. So, it's really a lot.

My favorite airport though is Key West. Takes 3 minutes to get through security, even post 9/11. And, since we went through that a dozen times, it wasn't a one-off lucky event.

The airport in Brownsville, TX is a dump. So, it's probably my least favorite.

The airport in Geneva, Switzerland is interesting because the international border runs through it. So, you have to go through customs to get from France to Switzerland to get to those gates.

.....they actually have a 10,000 seat basketball arena in the airport.

Probably the weirdest place ever for a sporting venue.
