These trend predictions always seem far-fetched what parent would give their kids the difficult to spell and pronounce names Khaleesi or Daenerys?...
SFGate took a close look at the California Department of Public Healths (CDPH) baby name data and found that a small yet increasing number of parents have an affinity for fantastical names inspired by the television hit.
One of the more convincing examples we found: Before 2011, the Game of Thrones name Khaleesi wasnt included in CDPH data. In 2011, the name popped up five times. There were 31 instances in 2012 and 38 in 2013. In 2014, parents named 54 babies Khaleesi. In comparison, only 21 babies were named Betsy.
Alas, dwarfism is not diagnosed until well after birth, so there will be no Tyrions.

(23,637 posts)names that were popular. There's nothing at all wrong with those names, I just can't wrap my head around an 80 old grandmother called Grandma Tiffany or Grammy Brittany. The names just doesn't fit the image. There's other but those 2 just came to mind and I mean no offense to anyone with those names.

(18,497 posts)Because most of the people with those names will, in fact be old.
And that is how people will associate with them.

(54,256 posts)All we knew was that there was a baby on the way.
For whatever reason that seemed logical at the time, we decided that we shouldn't wait until the baby came to name it in the hospital.
We decided on a 'uni-sex' name.
'Lee', if it was a boy.
'Leigh' if it was a girl.
Happily, it was a girl, because now I really don't like the name 'Lee'.
Is it actually short for Leonard?

(3,818 posts)We named our new kitten Tyrion because we liked the name and character so well.

(78,249 posts)There is, in fact, a dwarf breed of cat. The first one that we know of was found cowering under a station wagon in Louisiana.
He's a black and white Siberian (Tuxedo) who probably should have been more aptly named "Jon Snow" because he looks
like he's wearing a black cloak! We all just liked the name Tyrion so much and were binge-watching the shows when we got him. At first Tyrion seemed like it would be too long a name for a pet (usually prefer 2 syllable names) but it's really grown on me and rolls off the tongue easily now.

(22,239 posts)What's worse is when you ask them to spell it and they get all pissy about it and start repeating their name instead of actually spelling it.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I should have realized your name was spelled Yllissabethe."
And inevitably their last name is something incredibly common like Smith. So I have 10 Elisabeth Smiths and 7 Elizabeth Smiths in the system.
Of course, the only thing worse is someone who gives me a nickname instead of legal name. "I'm not finding your record under Pootie Johnson." "Oh, try under Lisa Johnson."
