(63,771 posts)I kinda like the Whiffs. They have some pretty good singers.

(29,414 posts)but I don't remember the episode number. I'm sure it's easy enough to find.
When this clip started off, I thought perhaps it was going to be something by PDQ Bach

(54,255 posts)OK, I attended a couple of summer seminars there in the 80s.
IIRC one was 'International Security and World Order' and another was 'Southern Literature'.
Both were fascinating.
My son-in-law is a Yalie.
We've been to a few of the Yale-Harvard football games.
The tailgating was more fun than the games.
I've dined at Mory's and drank from a loving cup passed around the table.
While we were there I spotted two U.S. senators and one state governor at other tables.
Yeah, it's a center of power still.
When I was a little kid during WWII the grown ups would sing around a huge grand piano after dinner and several bourbons.
They always sang The Whiffenpoof. I think it was favorite among pilots in fighter squadrons.
Maybe because many were fatalistic and the 'black sheep' part expressed their feelings.
Thanks for the video.

(63,771 posts)like this. He sang in another choral group at Yale, whiffs being kinda picky. Oh well...

(63,771 posts)The climax is of course The Game, this year at the Bowl!
Hey, we get to watch Yale have its ass handed to it once again by Harvard! What fun! But it is The Game! Oy.
I am so tired of having to see my first husband at Thanksgiving dinner with my daughter giving me the razz ma tazz about how Harvard beat Yale one more time...ACK! You can always tell a Harvard man, but you can't tell him much...

(54,255 posts)Drove down from southern NH when my future son-in-law was there at Pearson.
At that point we all knew he was the future son-in-law.
They were high school sweethearts.
It was only a matter of time.
He and my daughter (and later their kids) went every year.
They live near Boston, so home games for Harvard were a short drive.
Recently she said "I'm through. I'm tired of seeing Yale lose."
