https://www.yahoo.com/autos/the-delorean-lives-on-back-in-this-future-124236103.htmlIn 1985, a movie came out showcasing a hot actor and a cool car. Michael J. Fox crushed the role of Back To The Future protagonist Marty McFly, and in the movie-trilogy-process immortalized the DeLorean DMC-12, a stainless steel, gull-winged automotive comet that burned bright and flamed out fast....

(12,153 posts)1. I love steampunk!
That's what BTTF really is - mid-80s steampunk.
On a StarTalk video, Neil deGrasse Tyson explained what the Back to the Future trilogy got wrong. He said that as an example, the future showed lots and lots of FAX machines because in the 80s, FAX machines were just catching on, and im the movie, the future was swarming with them. Instead of having one FAX machine, Marty had three (or more?). Tyson said that what futurists get wrong is that "they tend to focus on extrapolating from what is, instead of imagining what might come in out of left field."
Okay, but that's part of what makes BTTF fun...the steampunk.
