Daily Holidays - October 23

National Boston Cream Pie Day Even though called a pie, Boston Cream Pie is actually a cake.

In 1856, at Boston’s Parker House Hotel, Armenian-French chef M. Sanzian created this pudding and cake combination which comprises two layers of sponge cake filled with vanilla flavored custard or creme patissiere. The cake is then topped with a chocolate glaze, such as a ganache or sometimes powdered sugar and a cherry. http://nationaldaycalendar.com/latest-posts/

IPod Day The year is 2001, the portable electronics industry is booming, and the CD player is the hottest personal musical device around. Little did they know that the music world was about to be rocked to its core by a quiet computer company that’s set on changing everything. Enter the iPod, a compact and durable device capable of holding the entire contents of most peoples CD collections. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/ipod-day/

National Mole Day Mole Day is celebrated annually on October 23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m. It celebrates Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 1023), which is a basic measuring unit in chemistry. Mole Day was created as a way to foster interest in chemistry, and schools throughout the United States and around the world celebrate with various activities related to chemistry and/or moles. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/mole-day/

TV Talk Show Host Day Talk Show Host Day is celebrated on Johnny Carson’s birthday, commemorating one of the most iconic figures of TV Talk Show history. His career started in 1950 when he first found a place on the Tonight Show, and was the beginning of a legacy that would carry on for another 42 years, when he finally retired in a tear jerking finale that was the passing of an age. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/tv-talk-show-host-day/

There's a joke about the '70s in there somewhere... but I'm already pushing it.

Avogrado needs an exponent ... 6.02 x 1023

(Avogrado did find an exponent, in the person of Cannizzaro -- the importance of Avogrado's discoveries was not widely appreciated (nor were they even widely known) at the time of his death.)
