I'm going to look at one on Sunday. The price is right, its about 1/2 of what they go for around here. Its a mahogany one, not sapele.

(54,770 posts)fine instrument. The 000s clearly have more bass, and are a bit louder if that's important to you. If you are buying used, at a good price, you'll be able to sell it and at least break even. But it's a nice enough Martin that you'll be satisfied for a long time.

(5,604 posts)that sort of confirms what I've been thinking from watching video demonstrations of them. I thought they had a nice mid range, and excelled as a finger-style type guitar as opposed to a booming, strumming dreadnought. The price is literally %50 of a new one, so if this guitar checks out, I'll probably grab it.
I've had 'Don't think twice' by Dylan on my mind a lot lately, and I think that this would be a good guitar for that sort of stuff, as well as rootsy, country blues.

(54,770 posts)In fact, I kind of polished mine up to give it a much darker look like an old 00-17.
I especially like the neck on mine and of course the size is nice for playing on the couch or in a recliner, which I do mostly nowadays.
At that price, you can't go wrong.
