My wife is out of town and I wasn't going to hand out candy this evening,

but I've decided to do it instead of being a Halloween Scrooge.

I was just going to put up signs on the doors saying "No Candy," but I decided the neighborly thing to do would be to participate. We don't get many trick-or-treaters here in our neighborhood because we don't live on the ritzy side of town, and a lot of people here probably don't hand out candy for that reason. So I'd like to reward the kids who stay in our neighborhood.

I don't have a costume, but I do have some spooky music. I think I'm going to throw on some death metal and have it playing in the background as I hand out candy.

I thought about Snickers or Reeses, but my wife has made me peanut allergy aware. I think Twix is a cool candy to get and I don't think it contains nuts.

but the local villages host kid's parties, usually in the schools or town halls. So they get all the fun

She just got back, so if there are any more kids tonight, we'll share in the distributions.

It's funny, "trick or treat" doesn't work in German, so the kids here say "süsses oder saures (sweet or sour)" which is more a choice I'd expect to find in a Chinese restaurant, but if it's easier on their vocabulary, who are we to argue?

One pair made up a poem starting with "heute werden alle Geister wach (today, all ghosts awake)." Anyway, it's all good.

I like them, but I don't know how to do the little kid talk like she does. It's hard to explain. She just relates to them better, I guess. I talk to kids like I talk to adults- minus the cuss words.

We had two ourselves, and we built up a network of families in the neighborhood with children in the same age, and agreed than anypne's child was welcome at any of the others' houses at any time. Not only was it rarely boring, but we learned to speak the language as well.

One of the few childhood experiences that kids should be allowed to enjoy, and you have the opportunity to make a positive difference.

high rise & there are no kids here. I love Halloween & miss seeing Trick or Treaters. I go over to a friends' house in the adjacent township and visit her and her husband, they get a ton of kids and I get to see a ton of costumes and I get candy too, they give out big bars (lol).

I bought seven bags of candy and I ran out during the first hour. It's like taking a shower when you're expecting a call.

I guess when you're almost out in the country on a road with no sidewalks and live in a big ole red brick 2 storey house surrounded by spooky looking HUGE trees it's just too scary for the kids.

It's been raining and very very cold so that in and of itself is a turn off for the kiddies.

I buy some candy every year and we end up eating it ourselves. I'm too sick this year to shop but hubby, bless his heart picked up some mounds and almond joy bars to hand out.

We've eaten a few.

Happy Hallowe'en Tobin and Jen.

I hope we can get together again soon.

miss you guys!

I gave out most of the candy and dumped the rest when I was done. Jen and I don't need the sugar.

Happy Halloween to you, and I hope everything is going well for you two. Tell Dennis I said hi.
