How can a post just disappear?

Not deleted by author. Not hidden. Just gone?

Not sure I have seen that happen before. Thanks in advance for replies.

I think this is just for OP's. Posts in threads should leave something behind. Last night I alerted on a thread that was clearly some sort of game by a low post count troll. The thread disappeared and I never received a response on the alert. MIRT probably got them.
