Started with leftover fresh-squeezed and then frozen orange juice, and added vodka (all of this is done in my Vitamix, by the way.) Then added to that after drinking most of it with what I thought was another orange (I have many oranges, limes, and grapefruits in my fridge with no zest on them because it was used in making Christmas biscotti. So, what I thought was an orange, turned out to be a grapefruit.
Doesn't matter. I pureed it anyway, with tequila and more vodka (and a little bit of agave syrup.) Drank most of that, and was out of ice, so I added frozen pieces of pineapple, a little more agave, and another splash of vodka. It's quite tasty, so I'll have to remember this mixture for future fruity mixed drinks

(29,414 posts)Unlike my KitchenAid mixer, there are no attachments, other than a wet-ingredient container and a dry-ingredient one (for grinding flour and making superfine sugar.) I use the juicing attachment on my mixer to squeeze juices, and use the Vitamix for making smoothies, especially as I like frozen smoothies made with frozen fruit (bananas, pineapple, berries, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, et cetera.)
One great thing about it, other than making ice cream and sorbet, is that when you prep a pineapple, you don't have to core it. Just cut it up and freeze the pieces with the core. The Vitamix will pulverize the core; you'll never know it's in your drink
It's loud and heavy machine (2.2 hp in power) but the company has a great 7-year warranty. Somehow, within three weeks of getting mine, I managed to kill the base and motor. They sent me a new one and paid return shipping for the dead base. Earlier this year the seal deteriorated on my wet-container. They sent me a new one for free and told me to throw out the old one (I took out the blade and use it outside as another watering can.) I still have a few years left on my warranty, but don't anticipate any more problems. I do expect it to last as long as my 20+ y.o. Cuisinart base, another workhorse appliance.
I know there are others around here that have them, and the Cooking & Baking group is another good place to ask if you need more info
Also, the Vitamix site is good at explaining things.

(55,004 posts)I have had a couple beers and my first bottle of champagne and since it was just the two of us (me and the husband) I splurged on some crab legs (thanks to someone in cooking and baking, the bastid! )
I just found agave syrup this year and it is my new "secret ingredient" for margaritas. beats the hell out of simple syrup for a touch of sweet! yum!
My damn computer is probably croaking so I am having a lot of trouble posting. will probably get a new one in a week or two.
Happy New Year to the Lounge!

(29,414 posts)And yes, agave syrup is a great replacement for a simple syrup, at least in things like drinks. It does have a mild flavor, so for candies and other desserts, I'd still use an actual sugar/water simple syrup versus agave.
One nice thing about agave versus honey is that agave doesn't crystallize (or I haven't seen that happen with my year-old bottle.) So, that's another plus
