Medical Puzzler
My knee has been hurting for a few months and I was finally able to get an MRI done. The co-pay was reasonable this time, 113.00 including meds!
I expected them to tell me my knee is sprained etc. but to my surprise, my knee is broken in 8 places like a spiderwebbed windshield. The Dr. lady says she suspects I have other broken limbs. The mystery to me is that I cannot correlate an injury or a cause for this. I have been working 14 hrs a day on broken limbs? Why didn't I notice? Why would she suspect that I have "other broken limbs???"

1. You should be getting yourself to another doctor to find out the underlying reason why you have
such fractures. This condition can be attributable to a number of conditions.
Good luck, ouch! |

2. Conditions?
Going for more MRIs. They were looking real close at my elbows and other knee, hitting around with a little hammer.
My car broke down and I was walking 20 mi a day for a while there. |

3. Stress fractures?
Sounds very painful. Best wishes for a solution and a pain-free recovery.

4. Could be osteopenia or osteomalacia.
I hope they order a DEXA scan for you.

5. Sorry for the delayed reply,
they gave me narcotics and I never take them. I got almost sick then slept 18 hrs.
You are pretty much speaking greek to me with medical terminology but thanks I will ask for that test when I see the orthopedist. I still feel really strong like I can work all day and even played basketball regularly up until I found out. I've been using mind over matter techniques to deal with my health. Brainwashing myself into believing I am well, I cannot be hurt, I cannot get sick...this has worked for two decades. I guess those days are over. |

9. Thanks for the positive vibes.
Just weird to me to be hurt without a memorable incident to cause injury.
I'm checking the basement to see if Kathy Bates is down there with a sledgehammer looking to finish me off. |

10. "Why would she suspect..." Side effect of some meds you're taking (?)

11. I wish the meds were that good.
No, I think the doctor suspects a degenerative bone condition of some type.
All they gave me was crappy narcotics that gave me a gut ache. No hallucinogenics yet but can always hold out hope. An alternate reality would be nice right now. |

12. Some meds have negative effects on bone strength. That's what I meant.
Hope the mystery is solved soon

13. Oh. Well then thanks.
I have only taken aspirin, alcohol and marijuana for the last 25 years and haven't had any other types of medicine but that's interesting about certain meds hurt bone strength.

14. Do not sell yourself short.
I can tell that you are a hard worker and no doubt have helped a lot of people, wearing out your knee in the process!
Best of luck. |
