Let me say I am one of the fortunate ones:

I recently went to the hospital with chest pains (everything is OK) and was kept overnight to monitor things. I am fortunate because I have health insurance.

The bill was $18,000 dollars for one night. I had to pay only a fraction of it.

This experience only reinforces my belief that Single Payer is the only to prevent the ongoing bankrupting of many people in America.

WTF--$18,000.

My job didn't have it and I couldn't afford it on my own. Fortunately, I am very healthy but I worried about it. I have health insurance now. I haven't needed to use it except for getting an annual physical and eye exam.

I have medi-cal and it was hard to find a PCP as no dr. or clinics in my town were accepting new patients. I finally found a clinic that would take me 10 miles south of here. They signed me up with the NP which is fine by me as long as I don't get seriously ill.
